A: Board Certification is the highest level of clinical achievement offered by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Q: Why should you look for a board certified therapist?
A: A board certified specialist has advanced clinical knowledge,
experience and skills that will provide the highest possible level of care.
Just as you would look for a cardiologist who is board certified for your specific heart problems, you should also look for a physical therapist who is board certified in orthopaedics for your orthopaedic injuries.
Q: What does it take to become board certified?
A: Jim was required to have 10,000 hours of orthopaedic experience in order to sit for the certification with successful completion of the test.
Q: Why aren't all physical therapists board certified?
A: Many therapists are not eligible due to their lack of orthopaedic experience.
Q: What is McKenzie Certification?
A: The McKenzie Approach to spinal care is the ONLY scientifically proven method of treating back and neck pain.
Q: What makes this different from other physical therapy approaches (ie. myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, etc...)?
A: Other physical therapy approaches are based on theory with minimal clinical research to support their efficacy. The McKenzie Approach is based on over 40 years of clinical research by a worldwide clinical team proven with scientific research.
Q: What does it take to become McKenzie Certified?
A: Jim was required to take a series of four continuing education courses by the McKenzie Institute and then sit for a practical and written examination.
